Description | Globular body, flattened base; cylindrical neck; one loop shoulder to neck handle. Painted red black and white striped. Small. Narrow-necked jar/bottle with a globular body, hyperboloid neck, rounded rim, 1 strap handle extending from the neck to the body, and a flat base. No molded/modeled additions. The vessel is painted with vertical stripes in white, red, and orange. There appears to be a smoothed finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing and reducing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange and gray in color. Fireclouding is present on the base and body. The catalogue number is written on the bottom of the base and black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "1588." |
