Description

Intact. Brassy finish, some green patina. Made from a long flat piece of bronze swelling to an oval outline at the center and thinning tollong tails at either end. This piece was then bent around to form 3 full spirals plus a little more, since the ends overlaop at opposite sides. The two ends (outer spirals) were thickened by hammering at the edges, the central loop left at the original thickness of the metal. Overlapping ends slightly flared. Engraved dec. at center and ends of central loop; 3 six-petalled rosettes within rings, all compass-drawn, central prick visible in 7 places: center and at outer end of each of six petals. The larger central rosette surrounded by 3 rings; the smaller outer rosettes each surrounded by one ring.

Width 3.9 cm
Thickness 0.2 cm
Credit Line Purchased from Hesperia Art, 1962
