Description | Conical cup with S-shaped profile and pronounced base. Wiped with water. Medium textured, reddish yellow (7.5 YR 7/6) clay with decoration in dark brown (7.5 YR 3/2) paint. Band on rim, inside and out, with one drip down side. Restored from fragments. Marked "B79" on bottom. Shaped somewhat like a common bell cup, but witah no handle. Compare (among others) Sackett and Popham 1970: fig. 13, nos. 12-13 (Palaikastro); Hawes et al. 1908: pl. 9, no. 21 (Gournia); Lembesi, Olivier and Godart 1974: pl. 42, no. 3, center (Archanes). |
