| Description | White, cotton huipil. Red plain weave on edges of fabric. Hole in center covered with a square patch. Single faced onlay brocading creating design units of chevrons, diamonds and geometric constructs in red, blue, green, yellow, pink and grey. Both cotton and wool are used. As per Sigrid Meier, "Warp white: 44 epi, single, Z twist, white cotton. Warp red: 44 epi, two singles, Z twist, red cotton. Weft: 20 ppi, two singles, Z twist, white cotton. Warp predominantly plain weave. Supplementary weft is two faced. One panel, two selvedges. Woven on a backstrap loom." |
