Description | Plain spherical, two vertical loop handles shoulder to neck Narrow-necked jar/bottle with a globular body, hyperboloid neck, rounded rim, 2 strap handles extending from the neck to the body, and a flat base. No molded/modeled additions. The vessel has a red slip and is painted with white lines around the neck and handles. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere with localized reduction as the ceramic paste is orange and gray in color. Fireclouding is present on the body. Evidence of usewear includes surface attrition on the bottom. The catalogue number is written on the object in black ink on the bottom of the base. No other numbers are visible on the object. |
