Description | Woman's planting basket (kararo ntuja). Of naho' (pandanus). Worn in front of woman's stomach attached with cord around waist. Used to hold rice or corn seed which is dropped into holes made by stake held in opposite hand. In Towulu, women make holes and throw in the seed, while in Wihatu the men precede making the holes. Square, with rattan frame crisscrossing at bottom and reinforcing four corners. Plain weave, diagonal. Twisted fiber suspension cord tied to two loops on frame (now attached at one end only). |
