Description | Gray bucchero amphora in 15 pieces. Moulded foot, hollow undersurface. Pieces of the straight, flared neck are preserved, which has a horizontal groove around the center and a ridge at either end. Pieces of strap handle preserved, with a groove along both edges. Handle flares outwards toward points of attachment. Four female daedalic heads preserved from the top of the rim. One would be above each handle, the other two equidistant. Sherds: Three pieces of the foot. Five of the neck, one with part of a handle attached. Two additional small pieces of handles. Three small pieces from the body. All four heads preserved—two attached to neck pieces, two separate. Surface corroded, and with many white specks. Smooth, dull surface. Very similar to MS 1369 in shape, dimensions, and decoration. Note: One piece of the foot has a red and white sticker with something written in pen that has smudged and so is difficult to read. It might say “25” at the bottom. |
