Description | black Narrow-necked jar/bottle (aríbalo, aryballos) with an ovate body, hyperboloid neck, rounded rim, 2 strap handles on the body, and a conical (aribaloid) base. There is a modeled animal head added to the body just below the neck. There appears to be a burnished and scraped finish. The vessel was likely fired in a reducing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is gray and black in color. Evidence of usewear includes staining and abrasion. The catalogue number is written in black ink. Black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "2826." |
