Description | This vessel has an orangy-red slip (?) over a light orange ware. It is a deep bowl with a flaring or slanting ledge rim. The shoulder is quite short and has two opposing areas of applied relief decoration - one side has a wavy meander and the other 4 touching vertical strips, each of which has an even further raised circle at its top. Below this decoration there is a strong carination and the lower sides flare steeeply into a very slightly convex base. Its surfaces are weathered. Has an asymmetrical appearance and has also been burnished. There is a big chip in rim as well as a smaller one. |
