Description | The iron blade, with a rather broad point, is cut into to bilateral barbs behind, almost parallel with the shank, except at the ends where they curve slightly outwards. A slight central ridge (longitudinal) marks the upper part of the shank and continues to the point of the blade. The shank is flat forward, rounded towards the tang, whose insertion on the bulbous upper part of the wooden shaft is reinforced with an iron ring, behind which are three plaited rings of plant cuticle. The shaft tapers gradually towards the butt on which is fitted a conical ferrule. |
