Description | Rattle of the Dog Society. The handle of the rattle is wrapped in red coarse cloth and fringed at the rattle end. Also, wound around the red cloth is a strip of animal fur; most of the fur has come off. The head of the rattle is made of two pieces of tanned leather sewn together. One piece has been painted red; the other yellow. From the topmost part of the rattle extends a leather thong to which are attached 18 feathers in various stages of deterioration. From the bottom of the rattle's handle is hung another strip of animal fur attached by 2 cloth strips and 2 buttons. One button is white shell, the other is white man-made polished wood or bone,. |
