Description

Wooden Katsina doll. The face is painted white with feathers attached to the forehead. The chin has multicolored lines radiating down from around the mouth. An elaborate, stepped, tableta headdress is attached to the head painted white, blue, green and red. The body is painted red, blue and yellow with a kilt painted around the waist. This figure is likely the Butterfly Maiden (Palhik Mana). (Colton, H. 1959 #120, Wright, B., 1973 #106)
