Description | Native tanned hide; circular shaped body with rectangular shaped upper portion for opening. Edged with hide fringe and metal cones with red dyed horsehair. Beadwork design on body of pouch is a sunburst pattern of red, green, and blue beads set against a yellow background. Sunburst pattern surrounded by three concentric beaded circles broken at eight intervals by red and metallic stepped pyramids. Rectangular top portion has blue, yellow, and green vertical parallel lines. All beadwork done in lazy stitch technique using commercial thread. Design in the same on both sides of the bag. Overall condition of pouch is good: hide fringe on one side is dry and brittle; metallic beads (at one time silver in color) have rusted but have not yet disintegrated. |
