Description | Round bottom; globular body; wide mouth; short neck collared with evert lip; two lugs on collar. Plain Cooking pot (olla) with a globular body, bulging collar, outward sloping rim, no handles, and a rounded base. The vessel has two protrusions opposite each other on the collar. There appears to be a smoothed finish on the exterior and a smoothed finish on the interior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing and reducing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange and gray in color. Fireclouding is present on the body. One side of the vessel appears dark gray and porous, possibly from overfiring. The catalogue number is written on the bottom of the base and black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "1260 p." |
