Canteen

Flat red canteen, flattened sides concave with boss in center. Two handles, long flaring neck, one handle broken off

Narrow-necked jar/bottle with a lentoid body, hyperboloid neck, rounded rim, 2 strap handles on the body, and a ridged base. Each side has a belly-button like raised circle painted white. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange and gray in color. Evidence of usewear includes surface attrition on the bottom/base and residue on the interior. The catalogue number is written on the object in black ink. Black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "2710."
