Description | Large, square, flexible. Bottom simple plaited with stripes of even width. Sides plaited but bark stripes are not equal (horizontal ones broader) and are narrower. Decoration by use of 4, broad evenly spaced horizontal stripes alternately dark brown and rust; between these are normal-sized strips of brown, rust, brown at top and bottom and rust, brown, rust in middle. Rust may be died from alder(?); brown from mud or charcoal(?) All decorated materials inserted extra on top of structural splints. Rim finished with splints twisted up creating 1/2" of open-work and then caught in broad braid. Out of shape. |
