Description | Bronze fibula would with gold. Spring, catch and pin missing. The bronze core is spirally grooved; over it is wound, not in the grooves but in a direction at right angles to the line of the pin, a strip of reddish gold slightly less than a millimeter wide. This strip has a midrib and its variation of surface together with the undulating curves of the underlying core show through the gold gives a richly variegated surface. |
