Description

Painted with a face.

Face-neck vessel. Narrow-necked jar/bottle with an ovate body, cylindrical neck, missing rim, no handles, and a flat base. The vessel has a modeled/molded face on the neck with ears, eyes, nose, and mouth. The pot is painted with double animal heads in white, black, red, and orange. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color.
