Description

Sitar. Wooden instrument stained a dark reddish-brown. Long neck with rounded back and slightly convex finger board. Thirteen movable arched frets. Back of body a gourd attached to flaring piece of wood extending from back of neck. Metal strings attached to ivory peg at base of instrument. Ivory-faced bridge, two low ivory nuts just below five pegs ( two frontal, three to one side). One peg in side of neck for drone string. Good condition. Wood piece between fingerboard and soundboard missing. One fret missing, one string broken.
