Description

Split palm woven; natural colour except for a strip of brown and natural in diamond pattern 43 cm. wide, running lengthwise down the centre of the mat. Dr. Johnson says: "Comes from the N'bondo, found over a large section of Angola. The natives never use a model or sketch in making types or decorations on their mats or other articles. They compose their figures as they go along the same order - sometimes they work animals and birds into them."
