Description | Double strand checkerboard woven cotton; warp and weft of pink and black; 3 areas black twilled design in bands parallel to weft (string loosely caught near 2), multicolored parrot feathers and grey harpy eagle feathers are attached to first, quills bend around string then bound with cord; to second string pieces of parrot skin with small yellow and red feathers attached, on one end red and multi-colored feathers and snail and clam shell fragments attached. Worn by Huni-dauya (medicine man) in initation rites. |
