Description | Flat, wooden Katsina cradle doll. The face is painted blue with purple stars on the cheeks. The eyes are bulging and the mouth is protruding. The area between the eyes is decorated with yellow and purple circles and repeated on the back of the head. Two horns at either side of the head are painted blue, black and white on one side and red black and white on the other. The body is painted white and red with yellow and blue arms. This figure is the Ho'ote (or Ho'te) Katsina. (Colton, H. 1959 #104, Wright, B., 1973 #169) |
