Description | Oblong, plaited, ash; flat bottom with even width splints; sides flar, then contract to form a shoulder and "neck". Side horizontal splints are very narrow with one wide one be-low rim. Verticals alternatively red and yellow. Rim: finished with splint hoops. Two high handles looped over top; wrapped with splint and attached to loops which are caught under horizontals turned back on bottom of basket. One handle is broken in the middle, the other broken completely off. Called a "market" basket. |
