Description

Sommerville: Jasper-Onyx. A lion devouring a horse. Fine stone. Greek and Roman Cameos, Case K.

Vermeule: Cameo. Jasper-onyx. [modern gold ring setting] A lion to right attacking a horse. 17th century? - the design copied from a marble group now in the Gardens of the Palazzo di Conservatore, Rome. The group is said to have been restored by Michelangelo.
