Description

Souvenir for Iranians who make the Pilgrimage to Mecca (post ca. 1910). Bezel flattened but beneath it is inserted a magnifying lens (D: 0.2 cm) through which appear two minute photographic views: Upper, Medina with Persian inscription in Arabic: "Souvenir of the enlightened Medina." Lower, Mecca, showing the Ka'bah, with inscription: "Souvenir of Mecca, the honored one." (Trans. Dr. F. Rosenthal).
