Description | Relief figure of goddess from near Mathura, bed of Jumna river. Narrow relief of standing goddess with prominent breasts and large earrings holding up right hand to the corner of what seems to be a narrow scarf curving up over the head like an arch. Left hand at waist holds a short sword(?) or a wand(?) upright. An animal facing front at lower left corner. The relief is of creamy limestone, much water worn. The lower left area is discolored by smoke or fire. Padmavati. |
