Description

Sommerville: A Cowry, with cameo ornamentation - shell money. Tenerae, Case ZZ.

Vermeule: Courie shell pieces for mounting and with gold pin through it. Cameo. Head of a female to left. The features vaguely resemble the features of a Roman empress of the 1st. Century A.D. From the style, perhaps Graeco-Roman.
