Description

Plain. With a face.

Face-neck vessel. Narrow-necked jug with a globular body, bulging neck, rounded rim, 1 strap handle extending from the neck to the body, and a rounded base. There is an effigy face on the neck with two red painted lines on the cheeks. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere with localized reduction as the ceramic paste is buff in color. Fireclouding is present on the bottom and walls The vessel is smooth on the interior. The catalogue number is written in black ink. Black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "1140a."
