Description | Pottery. Flat bottom, sub-globular body, cylindrical neck with a face modeled on neck and painted animal faces. Face-neck vessel. Narrow-necked jar/bottle with an ovate body, hyperboloid neck, missing rim, no handles, and a flat base. The vessel has a modeled face on the neck including ears, eyes, nose, and mouth. There is a painted design on the top half of the body representing three two-sided animal head with vertical white and black stripes in between. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. The vessel is roughly burnished on the exterior. The catalogue number is written on the bottom of the base and black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "2132." |
