Effigy Figure

Face-neck vessel. Narrow-necked jar/bottle with an effigy-anthropomorphic body, effigy-anthropomorphic neck, inward sloping rim, 2 lug handles on the body, and a flat base. The vessel is in the shape of a seated human with red painted skin, white and black painted clothes and hat, and white eyes with black lines on face. Black and white geometric designs are painted on the back. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. The vessel is smooth on the interior. The catalogue number is written in black ink and pencil. Black ink on the bottom of the vessel reads: "1066."
