Description | Wooden Katsina doll. The face is painted white with red circles below the eyes. The eyes are rectangular with one outlined in yellow and the other in blue. The chin has multicolored lines radiating down from around the mouth. An elaborate, stepped, tableta headdress is attached to the head painted green, yellow and red. The body is painted with white and red. This figure is a female Salako (Salako Mana) Katsina. (Colton, H. 1959 #118, Wright, B., 1973 #249) |
