Description | Small jug. Intact save for end of spout. Three articulated parts. Lower part concave in profile; shoulder nearly a quarter round in profile; constricted neck rising to a beaked spout. A small disk on either side of the back of the spout suggesting the eyes of the beak. Handle attached below at outer edge of shoulder, rising to arch above and down to back of spout. Shoulder, neck and inside of handle unglazed, the rest covered with black glaze. On the shoulder are painted in glaze a large wave pattern and on the lower neck tongue pattern. |
