Description | Probably pine root; flat bottom; flaring sides. Plain twining, bottom quite coarse. RIm is braided and has continuous row of free-standing loops around top; these are lashed on with stitches coming below rim. Loops are wrapped roots. Decoration in over-lay twining of grass dyed red; vertical rows of 3 "pitch-fork" motifs- 5 rows in all. Medium size; very dry. Dye probably aniline. |
