Description | Plinth and top similar: rectangular in plan with low, straight profile; plinth larger than top; upper surface of top is flat. Interior hollow up to middle. Back is flat. The two sides have identical profiles: below, a large molding with a convex profile; above, a quarter-round molding, smaller. On front, in relief, a frontal female head with long earrings triangular in profile. A large volute below head and a smaller one above. Considerable traces of red paint on front and on both sides; large egg pattern (Lesbian cymation?) in red outline visible on lower molding on one side. Intact except that the 2 back corners of the top are broken away. Clay: "greenish-yellowish with volcanic and mica particles." Heavy, architectural terracotta fabric. |
