Description

Clay kava bowl, ndari- bowl; ndarungwele-l. Reddish brown pottery, exterior burnished. Hemispherical. Rope-impressed design. Cracked and pieced together. Secured at village of Namuamua, May 1931. Said to be very old; informant suggested 100-200 years. Place of manufacturing unknown; local wooden kava bowls are imported from Lau Islands, Eastern Fiji.
