Description | Red ware with white melon stripes. Bulging neck with thickened rim; two horizontal loop handles on body. Cooking pot (olla) with a globular body, bulging collar, flanged rim, 2 horizontal strap handles on the body, and a rounded base. No molded/modeled additions. The vessel has a red slip and white painted stripes. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. Evidence of usewear includes surface attrition on the bottom/base and soot on the exterior. The catalogue number is written on the object in black ink. Black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "2862." |
