Description | Wooden Katsina doll. The face is painted green with a red border that curls below the cheeks representing a bean plant. The mouth is a protruding tube. Two conical projections are attached to the top of the head with a semicircular headdress between them. Feathers are also attached to the top and back of the head. The body is painted red and yellow and a kilt is painted over the waist. This figure is the Bean (Muzribi) Katsina. (Colton, H. 1959 #188, Wright, B., 1973 #140) |
