Description | Wooden Katsina doll. The lower part of the face is painted green and the forehead is bisected vertically into yellow and red halves. Rays of painted wood represent feathers attach to the sides and top of the head. Feathers are attached to the side, back and top of the head. The body is painted red, yellow and green with a kilt painted over the waist. This figure is the Sun (Tawa) Katsina. (Colton, H. 1959 #146, Wright, B., 1973 #124) |
