Description

Deep, round. Made of roots of spruce tree; straw false embroidery. Design -- in a wide band -- is composed of a series of zigzags (butterfly ?). The spruce root is blue, red, and green; the embroidery is reddish brown, orange, and natural. Natural dyes and others taken from trade goods. Berry-picking basket. Technical notes: twined, close twined, two-strand, in-between weave (with plain), wrapped weft ("false embroidery"); 12 warps and 14 wefts per square inch. Half head of salmon berry design; color three-strand.
