Description | Tapestry. Top of a large white plain weave loin cloth. Interlocking weft with occassional kelim. (Black pattern of serpents single and double headed) Tapestry edged by two rows of wrapped weave in herringbone effect. Colors many on red ground. This fragment is composed of two sections: a cotton plain weave and a multi-colored tapestry with a decorative design. The tapestry design is bands of interlocking frets alternating with bands of serpents (snakes) in many colors. The join between the tapestry and plain weave is almost seamless. Color(s): White plain weave, tapestry section is white, red, yellow, green and brown. |
