Description

Painted wooden sheath with kidney-shaped top (wrangka), but with longer side squared off at bottom. Two curved longitudinal ridges, one side only. Body of sheath (gandar) has a raised medial ridge, one side only. Both wrangka and gandar painted bright orange. On gandar, a sinuous stem with regularly branching round green leaves (rinceau), dividing at top (on wrangka) into separate branches. At center, a large lotus or water lily, from which emerges a scaled snake (naga), communing with (at left) a pale green heron with dark orange feet. Among the blossoms at right, two fish. The scene on the other side of the wrangka is similar, except reversed, with four fish and a white heron.
