Description

Sommerville: Agate-Onyx - Attalus, King of Pergamos BC241-197. Greek and Roman Cameos, Case I.

Vermeule: Agate-Onyx. Cameo. (Unmounted). Filleted bust of the Hellenistic philosopher type to right., identified by Sommerville as Attalus, King of Pergamon (241-197 B.C.) but probably modelled after an ancient bust of Zeus or Aesculapius.17th Century.
