Description | A woven bamboo (mai phai ban ไม้ไผ่บ้าน) jar with an attached bottom that protrudes to a point at one end beyond the edge of the jar itself. At the side with the protrusion there is an opening that is "V" shaped and is guarded by some loose netting. The lower half and neck of the trap is more tightly woven than the mid-section where there are large gaps like a sieve. It is used in river edges that are muddy (ป่าไผ่ทาม). Soft bran bait is staked inside. Used August-September when the fish migrate. This migration is known as Pla Hom (ปลาฮอม). |
