Description | Of one log, the head large cylindrical, the handle, also round in section, formed by cutting away the outer part of the leg. "Maul used with fire [?] in splitting 'boards'. A larger one is used with wooden ridge in splitting logs, and a smaller one with chisels and gouges." From Moses Owl, 1944. |
