Description | One of a pair of snowshoes. Wooden frame made from two pieces of wood that are steamed, bent, and spliced together at the toe. Wood has a slightly pink tinge. Three wooden cross braces separate the snowshoe into sections of hexagonal weave netting made from gut or sinew. The central section has an open, straight weave of 16 warp straps and 4 weft straps made from hide. The front end of the central portion has a large opening between the straps. Upturned toe, pointed heel. |
