Description

Wooden Katsina doll. The face is painted black with a white line bisecting it vertically. Two vertical lines are painted below each rectangular eye. The mouth is a long, painted, protruding beak. The ears are round flower blossoms, likely indicating maiden's hair whorls. The body is painted white and a cloth kilt is wrapped around the waist. This figure is the Hump-backed Flute Player Maiden (Kokopelli Mana) Runner Katsina. (Colton, H. 1959 #66, Wright, B., 1973 #231)
