Description

Sommerville: Agate. Ptolemaeus Auletes, the flute-player, son of Ptolemaeus Lathyrus. Gold and Silver Rings - Cameos, Case KKK.

Vermeule: (Agate) Sardonyx. Cameo. (Modern gold (reset) ring setting, swivel setting) Bust of a youth facing to right, identified by Sommerville as "Ptolemaeus Auletes, the flute player son of Ptolemaeus Lathyrus," carved from predominately white layer. Ptolemy VII. Early 18th century, probably Italian.
