Description | Sheath with kidney shaped top (wrangka) painted with (on one side) overlapping red-edged green crescents, and (on the other) two Javanese shadow puppet (wayang kulit) figures surrounded by curling tendrils in red on a green background. Body of sheath (gandar) is wood with brass covering (pendok) decorated on front with panels of scrolling vegetation and animals (elephant, etc.) framed by bands of four-petalled flowers. Paint on wrangka peeling, pendok dented. Wrangka does not fit well with body of sheath. |
