Description

Wooden mask representing a bird with a large open beak, showing pointed teeth, fangs, and red tongue. Bulging red and black eyes with curved holes underneath, pointed ears with gold tear-drop ear ornaments inlaid with red glass. Large openwork hide crown/headdress painted gold and decorated with pieces of reflective and green glass. Mask used in the Balinese dance-drama Wayang Wong for Jatayu, King of the Birds.
