Description | Pottery. Globular body, swollen neck with everted lip, one vertical loop handle from shoulder to neck. Painted: red-white-black in zigzags Narrow-necked jar/bottle with a globular body, bulging neck, rounded rim, 1 strap handle extending from the neck to the body, and a rounded base. No molded/modeled additions. The vessel is painted with a band of zig-zag geometric design in red, white, and black, with white dots. The rim is painted with black and white curvilinear design. There appears to be a smoothed finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. Fireclouding is present on the base. The catalogue number is written on the bottom of the base and black ink on the interior of neck reads: "1875." |
